Up the creek without a Paddle

A truly disgusting problem is afflicting residents in southern Waterdeep.  It appears there has been a systemic catastrophic failure where the sewers empty into the ocean.  Dirty water and raw sewage is flooding basements and even some low lying streets throughout the Docks Ward, the Trade Ward, and the Castle Ward.

According to Mundungus Fletcher--Head of the Cellerer's and Plumber's Guild, the guild is working hard to locate the source of the problem.  "Me boys are trying their hardest to find where this backup is stemming from so we can get it fixed.  But we're having a real tough time of it.  There's some really nasty undead down there in the sewers--and they don't seem affected by the sewage at all.  You can't SEE anything in there, and you'll be making your way through the muck, when all of a sudden one of them worm-zombies will just come at you out of nowhere.  It's a real tough situation.  We're committed to finding the problem and clearing out the clogs in the system."

Meanwhile residents throughout southern Waterdeep are being displaced, as most basements have rapidly flooded with several feet of revolting sewage.  "The smell is simply unbearable!  I was using our basement room to homeschool my children, but now we're staying with relatives in the Field Ward--it's much nicer up here than I remembered.  Someone has really set their hand to beautifying the Field Ward.  Maybe when all this is over, we'll sell the house and move up here to the Field Ward," according to Mrs. Thalia Thornton--a half-elf from the Trades Ward.

Father Laurus-- of St. Peren's TSR-- commented: "We need the City to fix this problem--and quickly!  My esteemed predecessor, Father Earendil (may he rest in peace in the ancient homeland of the elves)-- was always trying to warn Lord Valian and Baron Aeoth--and other Lords of the city--about the extensive problems with the city sewers.  But the Lords of Waterdeep don't seem to care much about sewage when there's more exciting things to be doing--like chasing after urban legends.  Nor do they seem to think much of the plight of the common elf or the common man living in this city.  They're always devising hairbrained schemes--like aboleth traps-- instead of just going in and killing what needs killing."
